People's organization-at work
Dr. Saha mobilizes local communities of Habashpur village under Pangsha Upazila of Rajbari district in 1990. He applies participatory approaches and ensures local leaders to get involved. This eventually brings out of a development organization named “VORD”. VORD is now at full of involvement for and with local people fostering people’s self-esteem and self-help in development.

Studies-on sanitation ladder
In 2005, M. Kashem and Dr. Saha took part in a study to assess functionality and effectiveness of sanitation ladder in WaterAid supported and VERC implemented WSS project in Bangladesh. The study is placed in an IRC publication titled ‘Beyond Construction’ in 2008. This adds value to scaling up of CLTS approaches recognized worldwide.

Piloting rural piped water supply
The WSP-World Bank Bangladesh, in 2001, undertakes the first study on community managed piped water supply scheme in Harirampur village under Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi district. It was intended to provide mitigation of arsenic poisoning in drinking water, as discovered in Bangladesh during mid 90’s. Kashem, as an independent consultant, has designed and conducted study and recommended community management system for the project to be piloted afterwards.
